Indian batting great and India U19 coach –Rahul Dravid, who was recently announced as the ambassador and icon for the Karnataka Assembly polls 2018, has shared a message for voters.

The main purpose of the Election Commission to nominate Dravid – one of the most loved cricketers in the country, as election icon was to create awareness about the elections to ensure a high turnout in the state.

As per IANS, an official from the state poll panel said that 30-second long video message will be telecast on television channels to encourage more people to vote in the state assembly polls.

In a video, Dravid was seen urging the Karnataka public to vote in the state assembly elections on May 12, as every voter is important in democracy just like every player is important in cricket.

According to Press Trust of India, Dravid said in a message, “If you all vote, democracy wins. In cricket, every player is important. Even in democracy, all are important. I vote. You also vote.”

He further added, “When everyone plays well, we can win the match. In cricket, every player is important. Even in the democracy, all are important. I vote. You also vote.”

Meanwhile, the cricket Icon pitches for ethical voting by saying, “Together, let us play a fair game. Say yes to ethical elections."

The Karnataka elections will be held in a single phase poll for the 224-member Assembly on May 12.
