Steve Smith and Darren Lehmann were inconsolable while addressing the media. This shows how much the ball-tampering saga has affected them. Smith would not represent his country for next one year and Lehmann will step down from the post of head coach after South Africa tour.

Along with Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft also faced a ban. Smith and Warner were stripped of the captaincy and vice-captaincy immediately after being caught in a plot to alter the condition of the ball during the third Test against South Africa.

The trio have accepted their mistake and were very sad about what happened.

Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar took Twitter to sympathize the Australian cricketers. He feels while they will have to face the consequences of what they did, the trio should be given some space to heal up.

"They are regretting and hurting and will have to live with the consequences of their act. Spare a thought for their families as they have much to endure along with the players. Time for all of us to take a step back and give them some space," Tendulkar tweeted.

After the ball-tampering news, Sachin was unhappy with the incident. He had shared his views on social media. He said the way of winnings is more important than the win. "Cricket has been known as a gentleman's game. It's a game that I believe should be played in the purest form. Whatever has happened is unfortunate but the right decision has been taken to uphold the integrity of the game. Winning is important but the way you win is more important," Sachin wrote.
