After impressing one and all with her awe-inspiring batting skills, India women’s T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur exhibited her remarkable fielding prowess on Thursday (March 29) against England women’s team at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Harmanpreet plucked a one-handed stunner to get rid of Danielle Hazell in the 17th over of England innings. Hazell went for a slog off Anuja Patil’s flighted delivery that hit the toe-end of her bat to go straight up the air. The mistimed stroke could have hit the boundary ropes with one or two bounce had it not been for Kaur’s superhuman effort. Harman ran in from long-off to cover a lot of ground and eventually pulled off a beauty while sliding down with her right hand.

Owing to a collective bowling effort, the Women in Blue restricted Heather Knight and company to a paltry total of 107 in 18.5 overs. In reply, India rode on Smriti Mandhana’s elegant 41-ball 62 to chase down the target with 26 balls to spare. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also remained unbeaten on 20 as the India women’s registered an emphatic 8-wicket victory.
It was India’s first win in this Twenty20- tri-series. The Southern Stars will face England women’s team in the final on Saturday (March 31).
