England’s Test skipper –Joe Root, on Wednesday, lavished praise on New Zealand cricket culture, saying the way they play cricket and shows respect to the opponents makes them a wonderful opponent.

He is currently in New Zealand to play Tests with the final and second Test will get underway on 30 March at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, while the hosts have already taken a 1-0 lead in the series with their massive an innings and 49-run win in the Auckland Test.

At the moment, Australia’s ball-tampering row has been doing round across the world and everyone is talking about it whether be it on social media, news channel or field. Even Root had to face some questions about the infamous event by reporters in Christchurch.

On being asked to compare playing against Australia and New Zealand, Root didn't take much time to think and said he feels comfortable in playing against the Black Caps. He also said that New Zealand’ on-field atmosphere is much better than Australia.

According to a report in New Zealand Herald, Root said, “It's hard to put your finger on exactly what it is. In terms of the atmosphere on the field, there might not be as much said verbally when you're playing New Zealand. But you still get a sense they are playing good, hard cricket. They go about things very much in their own way but you know you are up against a side who are desperate to win and are very skillful.”

He further added on the Kangaroos, “I'm not saying Australia don't bring that to the table when you play against them, but it is a different atmosphere in my experience.”

Root signed off by saying, “Relationships between England and New Zealand have been pretty good for a number of years, and it's the same with the majority of countries we play against. It is a reminder of how important it is we continue to do that.”

The second Test of the two-match series starts in Christchurch from Friday.
