The cricketing world was shocked when Australian fielder Cameron Bancroft admitted to having tampered with the ball during the third day of the third Test between Australia and South Africa.
Bancroft was caught on cameras using a yellow object to scratch the ball and then putting the object in his pocket and when he was notified that he was caught, Bancroft put the object in his trousers, before the umpires confronted him.
Later during the press confrontation, Steve Smith admitted that tampering with the ball was a collective decision by the Australian team leadership group. He admitted he had knowledge of what was happening and the responsibility of doing so fell on Bancroft.
However, despite saying that it was the first time they did it, Smith seemed to have forgot that Bancroft was caught putting sugar in his pocket during the 2017/18 Ashes.
Bancroft was seen putting sugar in his pocket in the dressing room, something that can be used to tamper the ball with.
