PSL 2018: Tamim Iqbal likely to miss PSL final

Karachi Kings and Islamabad United will play the PSL 2018 final on Sunday.

After a month of close games and intense finishes, PSL 2018  has reached has reached its final stage. PSL final will be played between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United on Sunday.

According to leading Bangladesh Daily Prothom Alo, Tamim said that his participation in the final depended on the outcome of his meeting with the physician in Bangkok. "I had pain in the Nidahas Trophy and so could not field in the final," Tamim was quoted as saying. "I also could not field in the match at PSL."

Tamim featured for Peshawar in the first eliminator against Quetta Gladiators but was sidelined from the second eliminator after the problems with his knee resurfaced. This is the same knee which he had gotten operated a few years back. 

Cricbuzz has further reported saying that Tamim will return back on the day of the final to Bangladesh after which the Bangladesh Cricket Board will take a call on his treatment. 

PSL 2018 has had its own share of controversies as well with many former Pakistan cricketers criticising the foreign cricketers for pulling out from the knockout stages of the tournament. 

While Moin Khan, coach of Quetta Gladiators have criticised the case regarding the foreign players involved in the IPL and their unwillingness to travel to Pakistan, former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has hailed the local talent of the tournament. 

One other big event which happened this PSL season was Kevin Pietersen announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket. While  Karachi Kings will miss the services of Tamim in the final, Islamabad will also miss  Misbah Ul Haq in the final who has been sidelined with a wrist fracture.
