India fast bowler Mohammed Shami on Friday (March 23) made it clear that he will take a legal course for the custody of his daughter from his estranged wife Hasin Jahan. The speedster also thanked BCCI for getting ‘clean chit’ from its anti-corruption unit chief Neeraj Kumar.

On Thursday (March 22), the Neeraj Kumar headed anti-corruption unit of BCCI finished their probe into the match-fixing allegations labelled against Shami by his wife. Subsequently, the cricket board confirmed that ‘no further actions/proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter’.

“I am feeling relieved (after getting clean chit from BCCI). This comes after days of tense moments,” Shami said according to Hindustan Times.

“I will consider legal options for the custody of daughter as I want to give her bright future,” he added.

Following the decision, the BCCI had also confirmed that Shami will be awarded the ‘Grade B’ central contract. The likes of KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma and Dinesh Karthik were already slotted in this category. Players in this category will fetch Rs 3 crore annually.

It is pertinent to mention here that the BCCI had put Shami's contract on hold after the news of infidelity claim emerged out against him on March 6. The Indian cricket board had announced the Annual Player Contracts for its men and women cricketers on March 7.

Shami is currently practicing in a private cricket academy. He will play for Delhi Daredevils in the 11th edition of Indian Premier League, scheduled to start on April 7.
