Mohammed Shami has finally got the a Grade B annual contract for the 2017-18 season by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), officially confirmed on Thursday (Mar 22).

BCCI had withheld Shami’s contract after multiple allegations from his wife Hasin Jahan on March 7.

The CoA had on March 15 asked Neeraj Kumar, the head of the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit, to investigate the matter thoroughly and file a report within a week. Neeraj Kumar submitted his report to the CoA and BCCI in a release said that ‘CoA is of the view that no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter’.

The said audio recording is available in public domain,” Rai had written to the BCCI then. “The Committee of Administrators is concerned only with such portion of the said audio recording in which the person who it is claimed is Md. Shami is heard saying another person by the name of Mohammad Bhai had sent money to Md. Shami through a Pakistani lady by the name of ‘Alisba’.”

The CoA had made it clear that the BCCI investigation would only look into the issue of corruption, and not with other charges levied against Shami.

The Grade B contract has players like KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma and Dinesh Karthik, and comes with an annual retainership of Rs 3 cr.
