Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) is planning to host the India-West Indies ODI in November at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. But social media isn't with KCA as it will affect the football turf on the ground. 

Sachin Tendulkar has also joined the protest and wants KCA to take the right decision. He wants Thiruvananthapuram to host the ODI between India and West Indies set to be played on November 1, instead of the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, which was last used for the U-17 Football World Cup. 

"Worried about the potential damage to the FIFA approved World class Football turf in Kochi. Urge the KCA to take the right decision where cricket (Thiruvananthapuram) and Football (Kochi) can happily co-exist," he tweeted. 

Tendulkar said he has taken up the matter with the cricket board BCCI. "Urged Shri Vinod Rai (chief of committee of administrators) who has promised to look into the matter. Hoping that neither the cricket nor the football fans are disappointed", he said. 

Twitter is using the hashtag #SaveKochiTurf to rant on this issue. 

Kerala Blasters CK Vineeth on Monday spoke out against reported plans to dig up the football pitch. Sachin is the co-owner of Indian Super League team Kerala Blasters. “Over the course of this week, I have read various reports that the turf at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium will be dug up to help facilitate the ODI cricket match between India and West Indies,” tweeted Vineeth. “For many different reasons, I feel this is wrong.”

He added, “I believe that for sport to co-exist, it is important that they do not stop each other from growing. As a nation, we are fighting for success and to become better on so many fronts and a lot of time, effort and money has gone into the football pitch at the JN Stadium.”
