New Zealand opener –Luke Ronchi has played a breathtaking innings for the Islamabad United and single-handedly pushed the side into the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 final after thrashing the Karachi Kings in the Qualifier on 18 March (Sunday) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The 36-year-old played a match-winning knock of 94* to help the Islamabad United to chase down the target 155 set by Kings in just 12.3 overs to book their place in the PSL 2018 final for the second time.

So far in the tournament, Ronchi has been instrumental for the United, which has now grabbed the top spot in the PSL points table with 14 points with the Qualifier win, as he has scored 383 runs in 10 matches including three fifties and is currently the highest run-scorer in PSL 2018.

As per Gulf News, Ronchi told reporters, “I try and relax as much as possible and just chill out by not thinking about cricket too much. I believe that if you think too much about the game the whole day your brain will get tired before you can even get to the game. So I turn up with a clear mind and confident of what you are doing and happy in what you are doing and it worked out in the end.”

Ronchi, who will now be visiting Karachi for the PSL finals, also said that he doesn’t want to face Karachi Kings in the finals as if they make it to the PSL final after beating Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator 2 on 21 March in Lahore then his side only get least some support on Sunday (25 March).

He signed off by saying, “It is going to be a massive crowd out there [in Karachi] and hope we don’t play against Karachi [Kings] so we may get support around.”
