PSL 2018: Wasim Akram reveals his local talent picks of this season

Former Pakistan skipper and legendary bowler Wasim Akram on Tuesday revealed his top local talent picks of the ongoing 3rd edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018.

It is known that the PSL has been playing a vital role in developing talent in the country, and the Pakistan selectors would definitely be keeping close eyes to the tournament to unearth new talent for the Pakistan Cricket from this PSL 2018 season as well. There are two talented players who have been playing a crucial role in winning matches of Pakistan are –Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan, who came into the national squad after their outstanding show in the previous editions of the T20 tournament.

However, former Pakistani bowler is not impressed too much by the local players in the PSL 2018, but some players managed to draw Akram’s attention and they are – Hussain Talat, Mohammad Sami, and Rahat Ali.

Beside the left-handed batsman Hussain, who plays for the Islamabad United, scoring 194 runs at an average of 38.80 in his 11 outings, there is no batter who able to attract Wasim in the ongoing PSL 2018.

Wasim told Geo News, “He is definitely the find of this year. After seeing his attitude and fitness I can say that my guy is Hussain Talat.”

The 37-year-old seamer Mohammad Sami, who represents Islamabad United in the PSL, has picked up 12 wickets in 10 matches an average of 21.66 (best figures 3/21), while the left-arm seamer Rahat Ali, who plays for Quetta Gladiators, picked up 11 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 27.81 (best figures 2/29) receives praise from Wasim for their brilliant show in the tournament.

He also said that the foreign coaches played a key role in developing youngsters in the country as their coaching style is very different to local coaches. Akram signed off by saying, “The style of foreign coaches is very different. I am not saying that our coaches are bad but they do not have the same impact."
