Australian pace super head – Mitchell Starc gives a fresh injury concern to the Kangaroos ahead of the must-win third Test of the four-match series against South Africa, starting from 22 March in Cape Town.

The left-arm speedster will have to bowl at Australia's main training session to prove his fitness for the crucial Cape Town Test, but he failed to bowl at the first net session on Monday due to a sore calf.

However, the Team Management is confident that both Starc and Mitch Marsh, who suffered a minor groin strain during the second Test, will prove their fitness on Tuesday.

In case, if both the leading pacers failed to prove their fitness for the Cape Town Test, then there are the young speedster Jhye Richardson, and experienced seam and swing bowler –Chadd Sayers are the two reserve pace bowling options for Australian on the Proteas tour.

According to a report in ESPN Cricinfo, Cameron Bancroft said of Starc, “Sometimes the bowlers just work their way into the games a little bit differently, his preparation might be a little bit different going into this game. I think in the past, he's bowled a couple of days out and had that third day as a bit of a rest day. Hopefully, he'll bowl [on Tuesday], I'm sure he'll be ok.”

Meanwhile, commenting on March, Bancroft said, “He's had four really important days off as it has been for everyone, especially our fast bowlers who've spent a lot of time bowling over the past six months for us. Mitch has been working through his stuff and had a bowl. I assume he'll pick that up leading up to the game on Thursday and I'm sure he'll be fine.”

There will be great chance for Australia to win the remaining two Tests of the series, as the Proteas will be without their premier facer Kagiso Rabada in the last leg of the series.
