After losing the first  ODI against Australia, there were chances that  India women led by Mithali Raj would bounce back hard against their counterparts in the second ODI. However, the way the Indian women performed in the match was disappointing to say the least. 

To start off India won the toss and asked Australia to bat first. This was what Australia wanted and as it eventually turned out as India miscalculated the pitch and the conditions. Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry, who capitalized on the loose bowling and hammered a match-defining run-a-ball 70 not out, said it turned out to be a good toss to lose eventually.

"Obviously we looked at the pitch and as a team we thought that we've got a batting wicket. But having said that, it is India's home conditions so we weren't sure if they knew something that we didn't. In the end though it was a nice toss for us to lose; we were more than happy to bat first," Perry said when asked if India's bowl-first decision took their camp by surprise. "Having said, they [India] would backed themselves to come down and chase any total with the kind of batting line-up they have got. It's just we've fortunately played some pretty good cricket throughout today."

Mithali Raj on her part defended her defended saying   "I felt there was a bit of early moisture in the wicket. Our fast bowlers got some movement today in first few overs. But the opportunities we got we didn't use," the returning Indian skipper noted after the 60-run loss as India conceded the series 0-2. "In the middle overs, when we took back-to-back wickets, it was an important phase. But that partnership, [Beth] Mooney and Perry, brought them back."

Perry went on to further admit that Australia were in no way underdogs at the start of the tournament. Australia's series win was a reflection of their domination against India in the series according to Perry. 

"I'd probably give us little bit of credit here that we've played some really good cricket at different times. [We] won crucial moments in matches. I guess in some ways scorelines don't reflect that how it feels out there but we've certainly felt under pressure at times with the ball. Even when we were batting. There were really tough patches that we fall through even though we've prepared so well for this tour.," she said.

"But in relation to India, we are so aware that the next game will be no different. We'll be on our toes, knowing that they can get back at us anytime. I suppose they are probably missing Jhulan [Goswami] a bit. She's such a figurehead for their team. It could be a different story at some point, but as I said, lot of credit goes to us because we've played really well," Perry concluded.
