The 56th season of the Irani Cup went underway today at the VCA stadium in Nagpur. Rest of India takes on Ranji champions Vidarbha for the ultimate supremacy in Indian domestic cricket.
The second day of the match started with Jaffer unbeaten on 113 and G Satish unbeaten on 29. Wasim Jaffer went from strength to strength during the day, as he kept on piling runs throughout the day, achieving one milestone after another.
G Satish also recorded his century 120 (280 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes) during the day, adding 289 runs for the 3rd wicket in the process. He was dismissed by Siddharth Kaul, caught behind by K Bharath.
However, Jaffer continued on his merry way, scoring a double century and then reaching the milestone of 250. He became the oldest Indian and Asian batsman (age-40 years) to score 250 runs in an innings in a First-Class match.
Apoorv Wankhade joined in the fun and scored 44* in 75 balls, as Vidarbha ended Day two on 598/3.
