It seems that the Port Elizabeth is not a happy hunting ground for Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh –as he has picked up a groin strain along with endured a gastro bug and code-of-conduct charge for swearing at Kagiso Rabada after the Proteas pace spearhead dismissed him on Monday.

The 26-year-old has fined 20 percent of his match fee and given one demerit point by ICC after being charged for a level 1 offence under 2.1.4 of the ICC's Code of Conduct, relating to "using language or gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match."

Meanwhile, Australians were beaten by the hosts South African by 6-wicket to level the unpleasant four-match Test series at St George’s Park Cricket Ground in Port Elizabeth on 12 March.

While, there are little chances for the West Australian, who played a stunning knock of 96 to help Australia to win the controversial first Test by 118-run against South Africa, to prove his fitness ahead of their next contest on 22 March (Thursday) at Cape Town.

However, Captain Steve Smith looks optimistic about his all-rounder’s chances for the Newlands Test as he believes that the 10-day break will help Marsh to recover in time to feature in the third Test.

As per The Sydney Morning Herald, Smith said of Mitch, “It's a good break now between now and the next Test match and he's telling me he'll be fine but we'll wait and see how things go.”

Marsh also accepted the charge and thus there is no need for a formal hearing.
