Parthiv Patel, who is in contention with Dinesh Karthik and Wriddhiman Saha for a wicket-keeper role in the Indian Test Team, feels that it is a great phase for wicketkeepers in the country.

As per TNN, Parthiv said on Sunday during a promotional event organized by Royal Challengers Bangalore, “On the contrary, I feel this is a great phase for wicketkeepers. There was a time when wicketkeepers were dropped and changed every now and then, but now we have two-three players who are in contention for the job. It is good to have competition for Indian cricket.”

Meanwhile, former India wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani commented on [patrthiv Patel saying he was not mentored well having made his India debut at the age of 17.

But Patel refused to comment on Kirmani’s remark, saying ‘I have a lot of respect for Kirmani sir and learned a lot of skills from him’.

He further added, “At this point in my career, I don't think I should be reacting to anything said about me. I have a lot of respect for Kirmani sir and have learned a lot of skills from him. Like others, he is entitled to an opinion, but I don't want to react to anything, be it good or bad, at this point in time. Maybe after some years when I hang my boots, I will only react to things said about me, but not now.”

The keeper, who has previously played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), will once again represent RCB in the upcoming IPL 2018. With frequent changes in the IPL franchise, Parthiv doesn’t feel difficulty in settling down in a new setup.

Patel signed off by saying, “I am probably the most traveled player in terms of changing teams in the IPL. I have been to new teams and have been through the settling-down phases earlier too. I have played for RCB for one year and it is a great team to be a part of and with a captain like Virat, I think we will have a good season ahead.”
