India skipper Virat Kohli is a Delhi inhabitant, but his name has emerged as a voter for the upcoming Gorakhpur Lok Sabha election. Kohli’s photo has left the officials absolutely perplexed as they have asked for a probe in the matter.

The voter slip suggests Kohli’s name is registered under Sahajanwa Assembly segment and his voter number is 822. The error came into the public domain when booth-level officer Sunita Chaubey spotted it five days ago. Subsequently, the voter slip was added to local corporator Gopal Jaiswal.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pankaj Srivastava on Friday (March 9) said the enquiry has been initiated concerning the confusion. The Lok Sabha election in Gorakhpur and Phulpur will be carried out on Sunday (March 11) and the counting of votes will be held on Wednesday (March 14).

Kohli, who recently returned to India after a triumphant tour of South Africa, is making the most of his time off. After being spotted with wife Anushka Sharma at Mumbai airport, the Indian captain grabbed the headlines for inking a new tattoo on his left shoulder last week.

It is worth mentioning here that Virat has been rested for the ongoing Twenty-20 tri-series in Sri Lanka after a hectic 58-day long tour of South Africa. During the South Africa tour, he was the highest run-getter in both Test and ODI series from either side. Kohli had scored 286 runs at an average of 47.66 on some of the most difficult wickets in three Tests and then followed it up with 558 runs at an average of 186 in 6 ODIs.
