Pakistani fast bowler –Umar Gul, who is currently playing for Multan Sultans in the ongoing third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), on Wednesday, asserted that the Pakistan Cricket Board officials are fair to everyone over national selection. He further said that Pakistan selectors offer justified opportunities to every player,  due to which he always keeps him fit and match ready.

As per Geo TV, Umar Gul told reporters in Dubai, “No door is closed to any of the players. All the selectors, all of the PCB [Pakistan Cricket Board officials] say anyone who performs, who is fit … anyone can be called anytime, as per requirement, in whatever format. Therefore, in my mind, I know I have to keep myself fit and perform and bowl because whoever performs well gets the chance.”

Gul, who is one of the most successful bowlers in the shortest-format of the game in Pakistan. According to him, it is because of impressive performance by young bowlers which has kept the veterans away from the game. He added that there is always a chance for a comeback.

The veteran pacer signed off by saying, “Agreed, any person would become frustrated. If one is not playing in the club matches and is sitting idle, seeing other players can get you worked up. If one takes it in a positive, professional way … if other boys are performing, [one should rest assured] they won’t kick out anyone based on performance.”

On Wednesday’s encounter, a rare six-wicket haul by Gul wasn't enough for Multan Sultans, as Hassan Khan hit a six in the fifth ball of the last over to help Quetta Gladiators to win the game by 2-wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
