Australian skipper –Steve Smith has now finally spoken on the latest confrontation between his teammate David Warner and South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock during the first Test in Durban.

In a CCTV footage, Warner and De Kock were seen in a heated argument while they were walking back along with their respective teams to the dressing room for tea during the Day 4 of the first Test.

In the post-match press conference, Smith has revealed that De Kock got personal towards Warner, though, neither International Cricket Council (ICC) and nor Cricket Australia (CA) have taken their final call over the incident at the moment.

According to a report in Sport24, Smith told reporters, “Quinton got quite personal and provoked an emotional response from Davey. Those sorts of things are not on from both sides. Getting personal on the field is not on. We were certainly very chirpy out in the field as well. As far as I'm aware, we didn't get personal towards Quinton. What he said got a little bit personal towards Davey and, as we saw, it certainly provoked an emotional response.”

The Australian skipper signed off by saying, “Those things on, you can’t be getting into someone’s personal life like that. You can’t be getting into someone’s personal life in my opinion. Obviously now it is in the hands of the officials. It’s just about playing in the spirit of the game, we are men playing a competitive sport … at times we need to pull things back.”
