Rajesh Pawar, Paul Valthaty set to play in Mumbai T20 League

Rajesh Pawar –former left-arm spinner and current selection panel head for Mumbai U19, and Indian batsman Paul Valthaty are set to play in the inaugural season of the T20 Mumbai League. The T20 tournament is scheduled to play from March 11-21 in Mumbai.

Valthaty, who played for Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was signed up by Mumbai South Central for Rs 50,000 for his services in the league.

While Pawar, who had played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and Baroda, was picked up by the Mumbai North team for Rs 80000.

Meanwhile, the six franchises – Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South-Central, Mumbai South, bought 119 players for a collective sum of Rs 2.03 crores during the players’ auction on Saturday for the inaugural season of the Mumbai League.

Earlier the teams had a budget of Rs 35 lakhs each to buy minimum 16 and maximum 20 players for making the squad, but it was mandatory for the franchisees to spend a minimum of Rs 30 lakhs.

In the Auction, total 119 players were sold, including six icon players, and 30 players who had played First Class cricket, 17 List A Players, while 66 Emerging and Developmental Players.

Valthaty came into prominence in the 2011  IPL season scoring 463 runs in the 2011 season. He has the best score of 120* against CSK.
