The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Probability Sports India Private Limited (PSIPL) today announced the owners of the six teams that will take part in the inaugural T20 Mumbai League slated to held from March 11.

Earlier, bids were invited for owning the six franchises of the T20 Mumbai League and the owners were announced by the cricket body via a media release.

The matches will be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium and the league will conclude on March 21. Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has already been named as the League Ambassador.

Earlier, Arjun Tendulkar son of Cricket Icon Sachin Tendulkar decided to opt out from the league as he wanted to work on his bowling action. In this regard, he got the backing of his father who said that he is too young at the moment and such opportunities will present themselves in future as well.

“His body has grown very quickly in the last couple of years - you can see the difference in his growth almost every couple of months, and perhaps as a result of that, has suffered two back-to-back stress fractures, which saw him ruled out for almost a year. He’s gone through a lot. Every ball of his is monitored by his coach Atul Gaikwad, a Pune based-coach-cum-bio-mechanist, who has been working closely on his bowling action,” a source close to Tendulkar told TOI on Wednesday.

The close source the revealed the reason behind Arjun skipping the tournament. “From January 8, Arjun has been working on his bowling action. This is the time to do it since the season has just finished. Right now, he’s at a stage where he’s looking to remodel his action. He was slightly confused that would he have bowled with a new action or stick to the old one, if he had played, and consulted his father about it. He felt that it would be too soon to bowl with a remodelled action because he hadn’t even started bowling properly (with the new action),” said the source.

The Team Owners for the six franchisees are:

Mumbai North: Sandipkumar Gupta / Ajdipkumar Gupta / Sanraj Hotels & Resorts Private Limited
Mumbai North-West: Radius Developers - Sanjay Chhabria
Mumbai North-East: Transcon Developers
Mumbai North-Central: PK Hospitality + Sangam + Rudrakh
Mumbai South-Central: Jupiter City
Mumbai South: Star Connect
