The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) Anti-Corruption Tribunal on Wednesday (February 28) imposed a ban of one year on Shahzaib Hasan for his alleged involvement in the 2017 PSL spot-fixing saga.

Shahzaib, who represented Karachi Kings last year, was one of the six players to be suspended in the spot-fixing probe. The 27-year-old opener was suspended on March 17, 2017 and charged with three violations of the PCB’s anti-corruption code.

“Hasan has been banned for one year and fined one million rupees on one charge and we have requested for more action against him on inducing other players for fixing,” board legal adviser Taffazul Rizvi told reporters.

Hasan was a member of Pakistan's triumphant ICC World Twenty20 campaign in 2009 but had not played any international match in the past eight years.

Besides Shahzaib, Islamabad United openers Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan were handed five-year bans last year after they were found guilty of spot-fixing and other breaches of the board’s anti-corruption code.

PCB also suspended two other players in the PSL spot-fixing saga, including the 7’1’’ tall left-arm pacer, Mohammad Irfan. While Irfan was suspended for twelve months, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was charged with two months suspension. Nasir Jamshed was another cricketer to feature in this tainted list and the probe is still going on against the left-handed opener.
