T20 cricket has changed the outlook of the game a decade ago. Sourav Ganguly, who was closely associated with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the charge of leading the team has come out and spoken in favor of the format to continue. T20 cricket internationally has been a huge crowd favorite and possibly the most loved and followed format among the three.

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has now has batted for the continuation of T20 franchise cricket leagues across countries, saying without T20 cricket, its impossible for the game to survive.

Replying to a specific question on cricketers playing continuous matches without any rest and also different formats, Ganguly told reporters here “Twenty20 is must for cricket. Without T-20, cricket cannot survive,”

His conversation with the reporters then drove along to the decider third T20 international between India and South Africa that is about to be played out today in Cape Town.

Dada said he is expecting an Indian win but not without a tough fight from the Proteas. Asked about the Indian team’s performance in South Africa, he said it has been a good tour for them so far.  "They played very well in the one-day series, he said.I hope they win the match (T20) on Saturday,” Ganguly said.

When questioned on India team's rotation policy Ganguly replied saying that the Indian team selection policy is one of the best selection policy. He added that the players are given their due chance after their domestic performance is closely monitored by the state associations.

When asked about young players getting an opportunity in Indian cricket, Ganguly said a lot of young players represent the country.

“We have Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya and others have come in to play in our Indian side. We have to give them time to become the likes of Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh.”

“Sehwag and Harbhajan also developed over a period of time. Our young players will also do so,” he said.

Referring to MS Dhoni's importance in the current Indian team Ganguly said that his contribution should be respected. “Dhoni is very good in one-day matches and in T-20. It is very hard to get past MS", said Dada of Dhoni.

Commenting on the men and womens' cricket team of India, Ganguly said that the men's team is way ahead of the womens' team. “Women are doing exceptionally well in cricket. Have you seen anyone hit bigger sixes than Harmanpreet Kaur? However, the men are better,” he quipped.

Ganguly concluded his interaction by saying that the fitness of current Indian cricketers matches the standards of international cricket.
