Harmanpreet Kaur excited to join Punjab police as DSP

Harmanpreet thanked Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal in providing the required support.

Harmanpreet Kaur, who has become a household name owing to her remarkable performance in last year’s ICC Women’s World Cup, expressed her delight on joining her post as Punjab Police DSP.

Kaur was earlier employed by Western Railway and was offered the Punjab Police DSP job in July 2017, after her stellar show in Women’s World Cup.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Harmanpreet thanked Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal for providing the required support.

“Excited about joining @PunjabPolice as DSP. Thank you Chief Minister @capt_amarinder Ji for pursuing my bond waiver with @RailMinIndia. Your support & encouragement will always keep me motivated to deliver my best. And thank you also @PiyushGoyal Ji for your help in the matter,” Harmanpreet Kaur wrote in her tweet.

Harmanpreet Kaur grabbed the eyeballs of cricket fraternity with her scintillating 171 not out against the Southern Stars at Derby which propelled India into the finals of last year’s ICC Women’s World Cup. During the showpiece event, India had surprised one and all and went on to play the final. However, they couldn’t cross the final hurdle as they lost the final agonizingly to England by 9 runs.

In December 2016, Harmanpreet became the first Indian woman cricketer to play in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) and recently she signed a bat endorsement deal with CEAT.

Despite falling short in the Women’s World Cup, Mithali Raj and company had received an awe-inspiring reception from the fans upon their arrival in Mumbai. Subsequently, many members of the team have been felicitated for their astonishing show. Madhya Pradesh government facilitated the entire team with a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh while the cricket board had also announced the prize money of Rs 50 lakh for each member of the squad.
