Pakistan cricket is going through a phase of transformation and is looking to build up a good team going into the World Cup 2019 in England. 

Pakistan took the cricketing world by storm as the Sarfraz Ahmed led team went on to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 by winning the final against arch-rivals India.

Since then Pakistan has won a limited-overs series against Sri Lanka while losing the Test series against the same opposition. Next, they lost the ODI series against New Zealand while they bounced back to win the T20I series. 

In all their victories, pacer Hasan Ali has had a pivotal role to play who has risen up the ranks noticeably in ODI cricket. Other senior players like Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz Ahmed now lead to shoulder the responsibilities of building up the team to the marquee tournament. 

PCB Chief Najam Sethi has taken a surprise call on Pakistan's next skipper. He batted in favor of all-rounder Imad Wasim to become the next Pakistan skipper. “Imad Wasim is in my eye as somebody who can lead Pakistan in future,” said Sethi, while addressing a press conference at the Pakistan Super League trophy unveiling ceremony held on Tuesday.

PCB Chief also praised former Kiwi skipper Brendon Mccullum and said that he can be a cult figure and ambassador for bringing back cricket in Pakistan. The PCB chief praised former Kiwis skipper and current Lahore Qalandars captain Brendon McCullum and was of the view that Brendon will be instrumental in persuading his side to visit Pakistan and play a couple of matches in Lahore.

“Brendon is as fit as ever and I tell you he won't let anyone off the hook when he is on the field. It is good to have a representation from New Zealand and I hope the New Zealand team will come over and play a match or two in Lahore,” said Sethi.

Earlier,  Sethi has also confirmed that West Indies will be touring Pakistan towards the end of March for a three-match T20I series in Lahore.
