Sri Lanka and India will kick-off the Nidahas Trophy

Unlike Bangladesh, India will not play any practice match before the tournament.

The tri-nation Nidahas T20 Trophy which will be played in Sri Lanka to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Sri Lankan independence, has been proponed and now the first match of the tournament will be played on March 6th, instead of March 8th.

India and hosts Sri Lanka will play the curtain raiser of the tournament and will have Bangladesh as the third participant. The final will be played on March 18 at R. Premadasa Stadium. All the games will be played at RPS and will start at 7 PM local time.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials said that with the tournament brought two day forward, the final will now be played on a Sunday, instead of Tuesday.

Cricbuzz.com reported that both India and Bangladesh will reach Sri Lanka on March 4. While Bangladesh will get to play a practice game before the tournament, India will start the tournament without any practice match.

SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala commented that the SLC are looking at a minimum of USD 6.5 million through the sale of rights.

The Nidahas Trophy was first played in 1998 to celebrate Sri Lanka’s golden jubilee of independence between Sri Lanka, India and New Zealand. India defeated Sri Lanka in the final of the tournament to lift the Nidahas Trophy.

March 6 - Sri Lanka vs India at R. Premadasa Stadium
March 8 - Bangladesh vs India at R. Premadasa Stadium
March 10 - Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh at R. Premadasa Stadium
March 12 - India vs Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium
March 14 - India vs Bangladesh at R. Premadasa Stadium
March 16 - Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium
March 18 - Final at R. Premadasa Stadium
