Sourav Ganguly says that Kuldeep Yadav should play in the England Test series

Ganguly said that it will be tough on Ashwin and Jadeja to find a spot in the playing XI in England.

Kuldeep Yadav should play in England, opines Sourav Ganguly

Kuldeep Yadav has taken the world of cricket by storm with his chinaman bowling skills. Kuldeep along with Chahal has helped the Indian team become the top ranked team in the ICC ODI team rankings.

Kuldeep also won the debutant of the year award in ESPNCricinfo Awards recently and picked 17 wickets against South Africa in South Africa in six ODIs recently.

Now former India captain Sourav Ganguly has said that he can see Kuldeep playing the five Test series in England. "I know in England Kuldeep will play Test matches. I can see that happening," said Ganguly to India Today.

Sourav Ganguly put a question mark on Ashwin playing in the England Test series. He said, "It's tough on Ashwin and Jadeja. More tougher on Ashwin because his Test record is remarkable. I am sure he will still make the trip but wether he plays or not, we have to see when they get to England.

Jadeja and Ashwin were the mainstays of the Indian setup until the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England. Their failure to provide Virat Kohli with wickets in the tournament and India losing to Pakistan in the finals, forced Virat Kohli to move on to Kuldeep and Chahal and the Indian team hasn’t looked back since.

The duo picked 33 wickets in Indian team’s 5-1 ODI series win- their first bilateral series win in South Africa.

Ganguly gave the reason behind Kohli opting for wrist spinners and said, "Wrist spinners have been successful in world cricket. Look at Shane Warne. I am not comparing them (Kuldeep and Chahal) to Warne, because Warne was an absolute champion. I think they (Team India) have gone the right way."

Kuldeep had made his debut against Australia in 2017 in the Dharamshala Test and also became the second Indian bowler to pick up an ODI hat-trick, a feat he achieved against Australia at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
