Virat Kohli breaks ICC ODI batting ratings record; Jasprit Bumrah attains top spot in bowlers rankings

Virat Kohli breaks Sachin Tendulkar's record for highest ratings achieved by an Indian batsman in ODIs.

Indian captain Virat Kohli has been on a golden run in ODI cricket. He recently concluded the six match ODI series against South Africa with 558 runs to his name, a record; with  three centuries including the highest score by an Indian captain against South Africa -160*.

This has improved Virat Kohli’s ICC ODI rankings as well, as he reigns at the pinnacle of the rankings. Now a new feather has been added to his hat of records, as he becomes the first Indian batsman to go past 900 (909 rating points) ratings mark in ICC ODI rankings.

This is the best ratings mark achieved by any batsman in ODIs since 1991, when Australia’s Dean Jones achieved a similar rating mark.

Before Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar achieved 887 rating points in 1998, Sourav Ganguly achieved 844 points in 2000 and former India captain MS Dhoni achieved 836 rating points in 2009.
