According to a report in TNN, a BCA official said, “Yusuf played six matches in the tournament but didn't perform well. So, it was decided to drop him and give chance to another player. His poor performance is the only reason behind leaving him out.”

It is also learned that the two selectors at BCA were against dropping Yusuf, believing the winning combination should be retained for the quarterfinal, but the other three selectors opined that the all-rounder should be dropped, eventually he has been left out after consulting the coach Jacob Martin.

The 35-year-old, who will be replaced by Akshay Brahmbhatt, scored only 79 runs from the six matches he played in the tournament with a highest score of 28 while bagging one wicket.
