NZ vs ENG 2018: Liam Plunkett to miss New Zealand series with hamstring injury

Plunkett has played 21 ODIs and taken 40 wickets at 23.22 for England.

England fast bowler –Liam Plunkett has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match One Day International series against New Zealand with a hamstring injury.

The pacer will also not available for England’s encounter against New Zealand on 18 February of the ongoing the Trans-Tasman T20I Tri-Series, featuring Australia as well.

In January 2018, Plunkett suffered a tear of his left hamstring during the third match of the recently concluded ODI series against Australia in Sydney and due to which he had to out from the rest of the one Day series as well as two games of the tri-series.

 The 32-year-old returned to England’s February 13 clash against New Zealand with figures 0-33.  England Team Management has further said that the pacer suffered "a minor recurrence" of the hamstring tear on Tuesday and due to which Plunkett will miss the entire New Zealand series, starting on 25 February with first ODI in Hamilton.

Besides One Dayers, England will also play two Tests in New Zealand as well as two 2-day practice match, starting with a first warm-up on 14 March and next on 16 March while the first Test in Auckland on 22 March.

Meanwhile, England have not yet announced a replacement as they have already fast bowlers Mark Wood, Tom Curran, David Willey, Chris Woakes in their ODI squad against the Black Caps, while all-rounder Ben Stokes joined the national squad in New Zealand on Friday (February 16).

So far, Plunkett has played 21 ODIs and taken 40 wickets at 23.22 for England.
