While, Chadd, who is yet to get his baggie green for Australia could get a chance to play for Kangaroos when the four-match Test series will get underway with the first Test on 1 March.

The 30-year-old has 246 first-class wickets at an average of 24.11 to his name, as well as, he has been the leading wicket-taker in the Sheffield Shield over the past 18 months.

Commenting on Bird’s injury and Chadd’s inclusion, Captain Steve Smith told The Guardian, “It’s disappointing for Jackson. It’s tough news for him. He is a terrific guy to have around the group, he works incredibly hard. He’s just a great guy to have on tour with you – a terrific team man. I certainly feel for him that he, unfortunately, has this injury at this time. But it’s exciting for Chadd at the same time. They both stand the seam up nicely and Chadd’s been rewarded for what he has done in Shield cricket for the last couple of years.”
