Young Indian pace sensation –Kamlesh Nagarkoti is all set for his next big challenge — the Indian Premier League (IPL) after helping India U19 in bringing the coveted World Cup crown to the country.

The 18-year-old pacer, who was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for ₹3.2 crore in the next 11th edition of the IPL2018, is currently in Chennai to play Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 for Rajasthan.

Later the month,  the fast-bowler would be heading to the MRF Pace Foundation to polish up his skills under the legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath ahead of his debut in the mega T20 tournament.

According to a report in Sport Star, Nagarkoti said, “This will be my second stint at MRF PF. I went there in 2017 and unfortunately, I suffered a groin injury then. It will be crucial ahead of the IPL season. As T20 demands a lot of variations from the bowlers, I would be focusing on perfecting slower deliveries and yorkers. I’m looking forward to pick McGrath’s brains. Last time I was here for a month, but I didn’t get to bowl in front of McGrath because I was nursing a groin injury. I was only doing my gym and rehabilitation sessions and didn’t get to speak to him much.”

The wiery pacer is looking forward to share the KKR dressing room with the likes of Jacques Kallis, Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc in the IPL 2018. He further said, “I am only thinking about the learning prospects the IPL is offering. It would be great to learn and understand how to bowl to a batsman like (Chris) Gayle. I think I can learn from them (the Aussies).”

It is known, the Rajasthan pacer clocked speeds in excess of 145kmph during World Cup in New Zealand, but he says it was a bit of a surprise for him. He added, “We play in matches where there are no speed guns. I knew I breached the 143 kmph mark in England when we played there but bowling at those speeds in the U-19 World Cup was a surprise.”

Nagarkoti signed off by saying, “As medium pacers, we have to do that. A lot of effort also goes into training and in the diet. We have to make sure we know what is good and what works for our bodies.”
