The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has successfully managed to nullify the Indian Government's interference in the dope testing of Indian cricketers, as the Sports Ministry has changed its mind of bringing the BCCI under the jurisdiction of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

The Sports Ministry has given permission to the BCCI to continue with the present arrangement of getting the samples tested by the International Doping Tests and Management (IDTM) –a private firm from Sweden, after some discussion between the Ministry, BCCI and the NADA over the issue.

In October 2017, the Union Ministry of Sports has insisted NADA to impose doping Test on Indian cricketers, but BCCI had made it clear that they will continue with doping tests through IDTM – affiliated to the ICC, saying the government body has no jurisdiction to conduct dopes tests on their players.

According to a report in TNN, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said, “The ministry wants every athlete to be tested. Whoever is conducting dope tests, the ministry has no objection.”

"I am glad that cricket is getting dope testing done by an outside agency. But when all national sports bodies and also of some other countries trust our Nada, the cricketers can also do that," Rathore added.

This comes as a great news to the concerned players who are putting in their best efforts in every series they play for the country and give it their best. Team India are currently busy playing a limited-overs series in South Africa and are currently leading 3-0 in the six match series.
