Virat Kohli made his ODI debut for India in 2008 against Sri Lanka and has come a long way since then. In 2008, he was fresh off a U19 World Cup win and was a chubby teenaged cricketer.

Since then, he realized the value of fitness and became a maniac when it comes to keeping himself healthy. One thing that hasn’t changed in King Kohli is the hunger for scoring runs. He wanted to bat on and on and keeping scoring runs for his team.

It was something that he has wished for and had tweeted in 2010 saying “Looking forward to scoring lots of runs for my Team..

The tweet came a year before he made his Test debut against West Indies in 2011 and became the part of the 2011 World Cup winning Indian team.

Virat Kohli now is rewriting the record books in all the three formats of international cricket. He has carved out a separate place on the pedestal for himself in ODI cricket, with 9348 runs in 205 ODIs with an average of 57.34 and a strike rate of 91.89. He has 34 centuries in ODIs to go with 45 fifties. In just a decade in ODI cricket, Virat Kohli sits at no.2 position in the list of most centuries in the format and requires 16 more hundreds to break the record of Sachin Tendulkar.

In Tests too, Kohli has a terrific record of 5554 runs in 66 Tests with 21 centuries and average of 53.40. In T20Is, he has scored 1956 runs in 55 matches with an average of 52.86 and 18 half centuries. He is the only batsman to average over 50 in all the three formats of the game and has 55 international centuries to his name.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli - their wedding made headlines

As a brand too, Virat Kohli has surpassed the likes of MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar in terms of endorsements and brand value and his marriage to Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in December last year, became a national issue.

At 29-years-old, Virat Kohli still has atleast 7-8 years of international cricket in him and we will see him fulfilling his prophecy of scoring lots of runs for his country, keep coming true.
