Harmanpreet Kaur not happy with India-South Africa WODI series not being telecast

The WODI series between India women and South Africa women is not streamed online.

Smriti Mandhana has hit 84 and 135 in the two matches and led India Women to series win

India women’s team and South Africa Women’s team are battling it out in the three match WODI series of the ICC Women’s Championship in South Africa right now.

India has won the first WODI by 88 runs and the second by 178 runs and has won the series as well, with one WODI to go. The two teams will play five Twenty20 Internationals, keeping in mind the World T20 in West Indies in November.

However, India’s premier batswoman Harmanpreet Kaur was saddened by the fact that none of the WODI matches are being telecast on TV.

After the World Cup, we were expecting most of the time we are on TV wherever we are playing cricket,” Kaur said on radio show Stumped, on bbc.co.uk. “I think it is the saddest thing (that) still these matches are not telecast. But still it was a great effort from the team (in the first two ODIs), and we are playing like we were runners-up in the World Cup.

Fans were hoping that they were going to watch the Indian eves play their first encounter after the World Cup performance, but with the news of the matches not been telecasted, nor streamed online, they were both angered and saddened.

Harmanpreet Kaur hit an unbeaten fifty in the second WODI

Cricket South Africa is to be blamed for the non telecast of the matches and have restricted their coverage to four-minute highlight clippings with player reaction for two matches.

I think it doesn’t matter,” she said. “I know everyone was expecting these matches to be on TV, but (it) doesn’t matter because we are here to play cricket, and these things are out of our control. We will focus on things that are under our control.”

Kaur said, “I think, as a female cricketer, these things will never affect us – whether games are live or not,” she added. “Our whole focus is on our performance, and I think as a team we are doing really well. And I hope we will continue this.

India’s next Championship ODI task is against Australia in Baroda in March followed by a T20I triangular series also involving England in Mumbai. England will stay back to play three ODIs outside of the Championship.
