India U-19 skipper Prithvi Shaw, who led the Boys in Blue to U19 World Cup title last week in New Zealand, is currently plying his trade for Mumbai in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Returning to India after successful World Cup 2018 campaign, young batting sensation featured in Mumbai’s squad for their Group C game against Tamil Nadu on Thursday, which they won by 2 wickets at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering Ground, Chennai.

After the game, Shaw was asked by reporters if he is ready for the next level, he told TNN, “I think so. I have to keep scoring runs. I have to grab those opportunities to be there in the senior team.”

Meanwhile, BCCI chairman of selectors –MSK Prasad said that the senior selection committee has been following all the matches to consider some of them for both the senior team and the 'A' team.

Prasad further said, “We have been following all their matches and they will be considered for the 'A' team. We have been backing a particular set of players and have been consistent in our selection policy for both the senior team and the 'A' team.”

On being asked about his maiden IPL contract with Delhi Daredevils, Shaw said he is currently not thinking about it and is only focusing on doing well in the Vijay Hazare tournament.

Shaw signed off by saying, “I don't know what they are (IPL franchise) thinking. Personally, I'm not thinking about it now because I'm here to play Vijay Hazare. I will plan how to play in IPL when the tournament nears. I would like to be in present.”
