PSL 2018: Babar Azam to play with Shahid Afridi at Karachi Kings

Babar Azam is confident that Karachi Kings will do well under Imad Wasim and Mickey Arthur.

Pakistan's promising batting sensation –Babar Azam, who is being considered as the next big thing in the Pakistan cricket, is excited to play alongside legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi in the upcoming third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018.

Azam, who has never played with former Pakistan skipper, is hoping to have a lot of fun playing alongside Afridi for Karachi Kings in the PSL 2018, starting from February 22, 2018.

According to a report in Business Recorder, Azam said, “It will be a great experience to play with him. I have never played with him before and I am hoping to have a lot of fun playing alongside [Afridi].”

The right-hander went to further said that he is looking forward to play under Imad Wasim in the PSL 2018, saying he is mentally very strong and is confident that Karachi Kings will do well under his leadership in the coming edition of the tournament.  

The 23-year-old further said, “I have played under his captaincy in regional games and we are playing together for quite some time now, so it will be fun playing under him. He is mentally very strong, he was also impressive as Pakistan U-19 captain in World Cup 2007.”

Commenting on Karachi Kings’ coaching staff, Babar said, “Mickey Arthur is doing a great job for the last couple of years for Pakistan, he will do the same for Karachi Kings and will formulate game plans for the team in PSL as he does for the national side.”

He also said that the entire Karachi Kings camp is extremely excited about the fact that the PSL 2018 finale will be played in Karachi.

Babar signed off by saying, “We are motivated by the fact that the final of PSL is scheduled in Karachi. We are confident that we will play the final of the tournament in Karachi.”
