Murali Vijay failed to report for a Vijay Hazare match against Mumbai on Thursday | Asian Age

Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) announced on Thursday that the State Body has replaced Indian opener Murali Vijay with Pradosh Ranjan Paul for the remaining three matches of the ongoing One Day tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

In a statement, the TNCA said that Vijay failed to report for yesterday’s Vijay Hazare Group `C’ league match against Mumbai due to shoulder pain and even he not informed about it to any member of the side and state board as well.

According to a report in Sport Star, the TNCA said, “The State Selection committee of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has replaced M. Vijay with Pradosh Ranjan Paul.  This was after M. Vijay failed to report for today’s Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day Group `C’ league match against Mumbai due to shoulder pain which neither the state selection committee, the team Physio nor the TNCA were aware of.”

On being asked for Vijay’s absence, Tamil Nadu captain Vijay Shankar said, “It seems he [Vijay] has some niggle. But I don’t know what niggle. I don’t have any information.”

It is also learned that the state body is very upset with Vijay for not giving prior information about his fitness issue to the coach, the captain, the physio or the selectors ahead of Thursday’s crucial match.

TNCA could send a showcase notice to Murali  Vijay and take disciplinary action if the response was not satisfactory.
