After drawing the first Test against Sri Lanka at Chittagong, Bangladesh stand-in skipper Mahmudullah Riyad is eying a rare series win over Sri Lanka in their own backyard.

Having put up a good performance with the bat in the first Test, Riyad is confident of putting up a performance of the similar kind as and when the second Test starts. The second Test match starts from tomorrow in Dhaka with Bangladesh the more confident of the two teams ahead of the contest.

The hosts managed a draw despite Sri Lanka leaving them in a precarious position at 81 for 3 at stumps on the fourth day.The visitors who declared at a colossal 713 for nine in their first and only innings — criticised the pitch after the match.

Mahmudullah, who is standing in for the injured Shakib Al Hasan, said Bangladesh played better at home and were confident of clinching a historic series win in Dhaka.

“We got out of a tough position in the first match. So this game is a great chance for us to win a Test series. I think our team is better, especially at home. It will be a good contest, which was mostly the case in Chittagong.”  he told reporters.

Mahmudullah said that he was disappointed with the kind of pitch that was on offer for the first Test match in Chittagong. However, he was positive about the pitch for the second Test match saying that the groundsmen would prepare a result-oriented pitch.

“When you look at this pitch, definitely there will be a result. The pitch looks dry. Spinners will definitely come into play. It is challenging for both teams,” he said.

Speaking about their opposition, the Bangladesh skipper said that they would not underestimate Sri Lanka after they managed to churn out a draw in the first Test.

“They are really good, especially (on) their home soil. They have performed well here. We never underestimate them, they are playing really good cricket" concluded Riyad
