Tainted former Pakistan captain –Salman Butt has been given a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play in the Dhaka Premier League –List-A domestic tournament in Bangladesh, where he will represent Mohammedan Sporting Club –led by Shakib Al Hasan.

Recently, Butt has been granted the clean chit by ICC over his involvement in the suspicious activities during the All-Stars T20 tournament, and later PCB also gave him the nod to play in the Dhaka league.

It will be his first outing in an overseas tournament since serving a five-year ban for spot-fixing during a Test match against England at Lord's in August 2010. On Tuesday, Butt arrived in Bangladesh to play a full season for the Mohammedan Sporting Club.  The tournament will run until March 20. He is also expected to make his debut in the tournament against Brothers Union on Wednesday.

According to a report in AFP, the Club official Wasim Khan said that they were in search for a left-handed opener and Butt "easily fit" in their squad for the competition. He went to further said that the Club is not worried about his past.

Wasim Khan signed off by saying, “It happened long, long ago. He already served out his ban. We don't think it should be an issue now. We have seen him scoring runs and that is important to us.”
