The credit for India's U19 triumph under Prithvi Shaw can be given to their coach Rahul Dravid as much as the entire Indian team. A world cup elated Rahul Dravid as a player during his glorious career with India. He finally lived his dream of winning the cup for India as a mentor grooming a young bunch of budding cricketers and thereby has laid the platform for a glorious future of Indian cricketer. 

The World Cup-winning U19 Indian team were welcomed to a rousing reception at Mumbai on their return. The entire team was welcomed with open hearts and blessings from all the fans. 

Upon their return, Rahul Dravid was quick to address the media, to talk about the memorable journey which will remain etched in the memory of everyone involved in the victorious campaign. 

Addressing the reporters in Mumbai, Dravid said, “Not lifting the World Cup is not a pain for me anymore. My cricket career is over, it is a long time back. I have had disappointments in my career not just lifting World Cup.”

Expressing happiness over the performance of his side, the 45-year-old said, “I am more happy for these boys. As a coach there are only so much we can do, at the end of the day, as a coach, you are dependent on the execution of the players. We are very realistic about our impact. Credit goes to these players. They are the ones who have put in the hours. Credit goes to them completely.”

The humble human being and the great mentor and role model that he is, Rahul Dravid exhibited his class by the words he chose to speak in the media gathering. He repeatedly spoke about the importance of a team effort in the campaign. His role was very nominal with respect to the conditions, he said and was happy to be at the backdrop of India's success. 

Inspite of India's win in the finals, Dravid was not happy as to how India played the game.  “We did not play our number one game in the finals, that we played in the quarterfinal (versus Bangladesh) and semifinal (against Pakistan). Just the fact that they played the finals was an experience,” Dravid concluded by saying.
