Jasprit Bumrah, Harmanpreet Kaur included in ‘Forbes India 30 Under 30 list’

Hockey goalkeeper Savita Punia and pistol shooter Heena Sidhu were also named it the list.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and leading women cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur have been included in this year’s 'Forbes India 30 Under 30 list'. Bumrah and Harmanpreet are two of the four Indian athletes who have been in this esteemed list. 

Apart from the two aforementioned cricketers, pistol shooter Heena Sidhu and hockey goalkeeper Savita Punia have also made it to the list which was released on Monday (February 5). 

The list prepared by Forbes has taken three broad criteria’s into consideration. Firstly, the impact of an individual’s achievement in his/her respective field and then his/her ability to remain a long-term player. Another criterion that one must fulfill to feature in this list was not belonging to the category of well-established names.

As far as Bumrah’s heroics in 2017 are concerned – the 24-year-old has scalped 30 wickets in 23 ODIs besides picking 12 wickets in 11 T20Is. Moreover, Bumrah’s bowling exploits in ODIs ensured his place in the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2017.

On the other hand, Harmanpreet Kaur grabbed the eyeballs of cricket fraternity with her scintillating 171 not out against the Southern Stars at Derby which propelled India into the finals of last year’s ICC Women’s World Cup. During the showpiece event, India had surprised one and all and went on to play the final. However, they couldn’t cross the final hurdle as they lost the final agonizingly to England by 9 runs.

In December 2016, Harmanpreet became the first Indian woman cricketer to play in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) and recently she signed a bat endorsement deal with CEAT.
