Prithvi Shaw, U19 World Cup winning captain gets 25 lakhs cash prize from MCA

India won the ICC U19 World Cup 2018 by defeating Australia in the finals. This was India’s fourth title and with it, India became the nation with most U19 World Cup wins.

India’s World Cup winning captain Prithvi Shaw, who hails from Mumbai, has been awarded a Rs. 25 lakhs cash prize from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Prithvi Shaw started his FC career for Mumbai with debut centuries in Ranji and Duleep Trophies.

Formerly, the BCCI had announced a cash prize of Rs 30 lakhs each to the World Cup winning team members, Rs 20 lakhs each to the support staff and Rs 50 lakhs to coach Rahul Dravid.

The award from MCA was announced by MCA President Ashish Shelar, who tweeted, “Many congrats to the U 19 team. On behalf of @MumbaiCricAssoc MCA prize of Rs 25 lakh to the captain & Mumbaikar Prithvi Shaw! Hope it encourages teenage talents!!,”

He had also tweeted “World Champions – once again ! Congratulations 2 our U19 cricket team for a masterly performance, #PrithviShaw made Mumbai proud 2day !”
