Veteran Sri Lankan left-arm spinner –Rangana Herath, on Thursday admitted that the Chittagong pitch, where Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are playing the first Test is still a batting friendly wicket after two days of play.

Although, the 39-year-old warned the batsmen to be wary of spin as he believes that the pitch could offer some turn on Day 3.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first, made an outstanding first-innings total of 513, while Lanka’s Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis individual tons put the touring side on a commanding position against the Tigers, trailing by 207 on Day 3 of the first Test.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, Herath, told reporters, “I still see it as a batsman-friendly wicket. They made 500-plus and we are 180 for 1 (187 for 1). We first need to score the 300 (326) runs we are behind. After that, we can see what kind of surface it becomes. From there we can decide which direction we can go (in). There's something for the spinners from the third day onwards. I could see some turn even after tea today.”

Herath signed off by saying, “Mominul made 176 runs, which I think was a special innings. It is a big achievement. Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah batted well. It is still a good batting wicket. It looks like an even contest now. We need to score the 300 runs first before getting into any kind of situation.”
