Sachin Tendulkar to certify blood donors at CAB

Cricket Icon –Sachin Tendulkar will sign badges and certificates of honor for blood donors at the blood donation camp, which is set to organize for the 38th year at the Cricket Association of Bengal's 90th Foundation Day on February 3  dedicated to the memory of Sir Frank Worrell –West Indian cricketer.  

The history behind it is that skipper Worrell along with Indian and West Indies cricketers came forward to donate blood to the Indian skipper Nari Contractor when he was hit by a bouncer from Charlie Griffith at the Barbados Test in 1962. Since 1981, CAB has been organizing the foundation day on February 3.

According to a report in PTI, CAB joint-secretary Avishek Dalmiya has confirmed that the total seven blood banks with the total collection capacity of 1200 units would collect blood from 9 am to 6 pm on the day.

Tendulkar will join Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh and VVS Laxman, who have had signed the certificates for the bold donors in the last three years at the CAB.

It is also learned that the CAB will also organize an exhibition match between CAB President's XI and Chairman Board of Trustees XI as part of their Foundation Day programme.
