The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has handed the Hyderabad captain Ambati Rayudu a two match suspension for breaching the BCCI code of conduct.
The suspension came after the controversy that happened during the Hyderabad vs. Karnataka Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018 match. An umpiring error caused two runs to be added to the Karnataka total after their innings ended; as a Karun Nair flick was caught by Mehdi Hasan, fielding at deep mid-wicket, during the second over of the game; however he had touched the ropes with his foot while fielding the ball. The on-field umpires failed to check this, but the replays showed that fielder had stepped on the boundary ropes while in contact with the ball.

The Karnataka team brought this error to the notice of umpires and then they added two runs to Karnataka’s total of 203 runs, before the Hyderabad team came out to bat. This didn’t go down well with Hyderabad skipper Ambati Rayudu. Things became more heated as Hyderabad fell two runs short of the target and Hyderabad team waited on the field wanting "to start the Super Over" despite the official result signaling a win for Karnataka.
Ambati Rayudu was involved in a big controversy and a mid pitch fight with his Karnataka counterpart R Vinay Kumar. This was because the Karnataka players delayed bowling until the two runs were added to their team’s total.
After going through the match referee’s report of the incident; BCCI decided to hand a two match suspension to Ambati Rayudu, who has already had problems with anger issues.
