According to latest ICC rankings, Pakistan middle-order batsman Babar Azam has pipped Aaron Finch to claim the top spot in latest ICC T20I rankings for batsmen.
His performance in the T20I series against the Kiwis helped his rise up the charts in the list of the batsmen. In the first match, Azam scored 41 from 41 delivers. He played even better in the second match scoring a 50 not out of 29 deliveries. His performance slipped in the third T20I as he only scored 18 from 17 deliveries.
Imad Wasim who did not play in the series remains Pakistan’s highest-ranked T20I bowler in the seventh spot. Leg-spinner Shahdab Khan who played well throughout the series is ranked 14th.
Pakistan's latest T20I series victory against New Zealand helped them to attain the number one spot in the ICC T20 team rankings as well. Their promotion to the top coincided with the second day of the IPL 2018 auctions where Pakistan's participation has been stagnated since the very first IPL season in 2008.
