Financial problems put an end to Pakistan proposed five years agreement with West Indies for a T20 series that is to be played in March this year.

Najam Sethi, the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that West Indies will tour Pakistan for the month of March to play a bilateral T20 series.

“The West Indies will come to play three T20 matches this year in March but the rest of the agreement was not cost-effective,” Sethi told reporters.

As per the reports, the agreement between the two cricketing nations was signed in October last year. West Indies had to travel Pakistan every year for a T20 series and in return, Pakistan was supposed to tour the USA for trilateral series between West Indies, Pakistan and some other cricket playing nation.

After all the considerations were made it was decided that the West Indies tour to Pakistan was not cost effective due to high production costs and players fees.

“The problem is that with three games we can’t get enough sponsors to cover our costs. So now we have decided on a one-off series this year followed by a tri-series in Florida later in the year,” Sethi added.

Pakistan Cricket Board were sure about their decision whereas a new Memorandum of Understanding will be released but it will not bear any Caribbean team coming to Pakistan later in March for T20 matches.
