England speedster Liam Plunkett will not feature in the last two ODIs against Australia owing to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by skipper Eoin Morgan on Thursday (January 25).

In the ongoing ODI series thus far, Plunkett has scalped four wickets in three matches. The 32-year-old picked up an injury during his second over in the third ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday (January 21).

Even though England have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the ODI series, Plunkett’s unavailability is certainly a huge blow for the visitors. Adelaide Oval will host the fourth ODI on Friday (January 26) while the fifth and final match will be played at Perth on January 28.

“It was really unfortunate, Liam is going to be out for around 10 days,” Morgan said while addressing the pre-match media conference.

“He’s going to stay with the squad for his rehabilitation. He’s been a huge part of our progression over the past two years. We’re looking at the T20 series for when he will come back so there will definitely be a change for tomorrow,” the England captain further added.

Following the ODI series, England are slated to play a T20I series involving Australia and New Zealand.
