Afghanistan brought about yet another surprise in the U19 World Cup as they registered a big victory over New Zealand. Afghanistan, Pakistan and Australia have reached the semi-finals with one more spot to be taken.

Winning the toss, Afghanistan elected to bat piling up 309. Contributions from the top order helped them reach a total which at the end proved too much for the young kiwi batsmen. Rahmanullah (69), Ibrahim Zadran (68) and Baheer Shah (67) were the chief contributors.

The New Zealand chase had the worse possible starts as they were down to 20 for 4 in the first 6 overs. Afghanistan finally managed to bundle out New Zealand for 107 as Mujeeb Zadran and Qais Ahmad took four wickets each.

Afghanistan registered a big victory by 202  runs thereby bolstering their way into the semis.
